Review: How does that work? Science and the minds of children (Scienceisourfuture)

2012/03/13

As I have mentioned in a previous post, I ran a stall at Bath Taps Into Science last week, as part of National Science and Engineering Week. I will be writing my own review of the event soon, but in the meantime I thought I would point out one of my volunteers’ post about it.

In his article, Ollie reflects on his own learning about how to communicate science in person, and raises some important questions.

I found that once again, being creative with analogies was essential. If you normally use cycling up a hill as an explanation for forces doing work, how do you explain this to a child too young (possibly) to have ridden a bike?

I’m glad I was able to provide him (and others) with this opportunity.

You can read the rest of the article on Scienceisourfuture.
